Tohoku University – TUAT WISE Joint Workshop

We are pleased to inform you of the workshop “Natural Disasters and Their Countermeasures from the Perspective of the Interrelationship Between Human and Nature” that is held in collaboration with students from Tohoku University and WISE-TUAT.

In this workshop, young researchers will gather to discuss the future direction of our research and disaster prevention strategies to prepare for complex natural disasters, with a focus on identifying and solving issues related to disaster countermeasures in both human and natural settings using an interdisciplinary approach.

In particular, natural disaster countermeasures are one of the most important issues for sustainable resource utilization, food production, and the realization of a safe and secure society, and we have been working on a variety of research projects in the fields of agriculture and engineering (robotics, energy, breeding, crop production, community development, data science etc.). Therefore, we believe it will be an important chance for the topics for discovering new research and creating entrepreneurship.

Also, the WISE Program for Sustainability in the Dynamic Earth in Tohoku University (https://syde.tohoku.ac.jp), which is based on literature and science integrated education, provides a valuable opportunity to learn about research topics and approaches that are different from those of our agriculture and engineering field.

Furthermore, Mr. Kenta Koyanagi from Public Works Research Institute and Mr. Taku Shiono of KPMG Japan will be invited to speak on their research and business, as well as on social implementation and other topics.

For a detailed schedule and overview of the workshop, please check the workshop’s website (https://sites.google.com/view/tu-tuat-wise-joint-workshop/home), and the leaflet.
