The WISE student, Ms. Ping LIU received the Student Presentation Award at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan
Ms. Ping LIU, a BASE student at TUAT, presented her fundamental research related to chemistry and micro-nano systems at the 60th Annual Meeting of the Biophysical Society of Japan, In this presentation, she attempted to identify 5-methylcytosine and its location using nanopores. This research is expected to be applied to the direct detection of 5-methylcytosine without chemical modification or other multi-step operations. This presentation received the Student Presentation Award.
Congratulations to Ping LIU!

■ Title: Nanopore direct determination of DNA methylation and demethylation intermediates
■ Abstract: 5-methylcytosine plays an important role in genome stability and regulation of gene expression. In this study, we attempted to identify 5-methylcytosine and its position using nanopores. This research is expected to be applied to the detection of 5-methylcytosine directly without chemical modification or other multi-step operations.
