A press release on the research findings of YASUDA Kazuma, a WISE program student, and his team has been issued by the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT)
The findings of a joint international research project by Mr. YASUDA Kazuma, a first-year master student in the Department of Agriculture, Graduate School of Agriculture at TUAT, Professor KOIKE Shinsuke (his supervisor), and other researchers were released in a press release by TUAT.
The findings of this research indicate that the number of woodpeckers in a forest decreases when the surrounding natural forest disappears, and the role played by woodpeckers in the forest ecosystem also declines as a result.
These findings are expected to lead to the proposal of management methods for not only the target forest but the wider area of artificial forests to maintain a healthy forest ecosystem.
