Ms. FUIJITA Shoko, WISE Program student, won the “Excellent Research and Audience Award (Poster Presentation)” at the 9th Saibounics Research Conference

Ms. Fujita Shoko, a second-year student in the Department of Biotechnology and Life Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT), won the “Excellent Research and Audience Award (Poster Presentation)” at the 9th Saibounics Research Conference on December 23, 2023.
Congratulations, Fujita san!

Theme: “Investigation of cell-free synthesis of highly hydrophobic β-barrel peptide nanopores

Contents: In this study, we succeeded in cell-free synthesis of artificially designed hydrophobic β-sheet peptides that form nano-sized pores (nanopores) and used these nanopores to detect oligopeptides. In addition, we are currently working on cell-free synthesis of peptides with stronger hydrophobicity.
This technology is expected to be applied to nanopore sensing, a biosensing technology that enables label-free detection of single molecules.
