Mr. Chigira Koki, WISE Program student, was awarded “Best Presentation Award (Oral Presentation Category)” at the 255th Crop Science Society of Japan Conference.
The 255th Crop Science Society of Japan Lecture Meeting was held on April 24, 2023, and Mr. Chigira Koki, a third-year student in the Department of Biological Production Science, United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, received the “Best Presentation Award (Oral Presentation Category)”.
Congratulations!
Using native varieties selected by benevolent farmers in the Meiji era and varieties bred more than 70 years ago, he has discovered a genomic region that is thought to contain previously unknown genes related to flowering time, stem length, and stem thickness in rice.
Further research will be conducted to identify the causal genes.
