A press release on the research findings of JI Jiajue, a WISE program student, TAKIGUCHI Soutaro, a WISE program alumnus, and their group has been issued by the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (TUAT)
The research findings of Mr. JI Jiajue, a second-year doctoral student in the Department of Biotechnology and Life Science, Graduate School of Engineering at TUAT, along with Dr. TAKIGUCHI Soutaro (a WISE program alumnus who graduated in March 2024), Professor KAWANO Ryuji (their supervisor) from the Division of Biotechnology and Life Science, Institute of Engineering at TUAT, and their research group members were released in a press release by TUAT.
The research team successfully developed a system that can simultaneously evaluate both the therapeutic effects and side effects of anticancer drugs using a microfluidic device loaded with cancer and normal organoids (three-dimensional cultured tissue structures composed of multiple cell types).
These findings are expected to contribute to predicting the onset of side effects caused by anticancer drugs and to elucidate the cell-cell interactions between cancer cells and normal cells.
