Inverse characterization of a material model using an ensemble-based four-dimensional variational method

■ Abstract
Machine design requires accurate prediction of the deformation behavior of a material used in products.
This study develops a new computational technique for characterizing the deformation behavior by extracting richer information from a material test using an image processing measurement technique and a data science approach.
We have employed an ensemble-based four-dimensional variational method for the data science approach and verified that it can be used to predict the deformation behavior for the first time.
