Koki Chigira, a WISE student, participated in the joint research and the results were published in the journal Rice.

A research group members, Koki Chigira,(United Graduate School of Agricultural Science, Department of Biological Production), Prof. Taiichiro Ookawa, Prof. Shunsuke Adachi,(Graduate School of Agricultural, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology), and Prof. Masanori Yamasaki (Graduate School of Science and Technology, Niigata University), Prof. Atsushi J. Nagano (Institute for Advanced Biosciences, Keio University) performed quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis to identify the genetic factors of culm strength of Omachi using recombinant inbred lines (RILs) derived from a cross between Omachi and Koshihikari, a standard variety in Japan. The research results were published in Rice. For details, please refer to the following press release from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology.
