Mr. TAKEUCHI Daisuke, WISE Program student, won the “SITA Young Researcher Paper Award” at the Symposium of Information Theory and its Applications (SITA)

Mr. TAKEUCHI Daisuke, a first-year doctoral course student (supervised by Associate Professor WATANABE Shun) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Graduate School of Engineering, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, has been awarded the “SITA Young Researcher Paper Award” at the Symposium of Information Theory and its Applications (SITA).
Congratulations, Takeuchi san!

Theme: “Tight Exponential Strong Converse for Source Coding Problem with Encoded Side Information”

Content: When compressing data, it is known that the data cannot be restored to its original state if it is compressed beyond its theoretical limit. However, in the case of data compression in networks with many transmitting and receiving nodes, such as IoT technology, it has long been an unsolved problem to derive a precise evaluation formula for the error that occurs during decompression. In this research, by developing a new analysis method, we succeeded for the first time in the world in deriving a precise evaluation formula for errors.

Date of the award: September 5, 2023
