WISE Program students participated and won awards at the Forum for Graduate School Education Reform 2023

The Forum for Graduate School Reform 2023 was held on December 1 and 2, 2023. This forum has become an annual event where students and faculty members of the WISE Program and the Leading Graduate Program for Doctoral Education from across Japan, as well as people from industry-academia-government gather to exchange opinions on doctoral education and their career paths, and to share achievements and initiatives.

The main theme of this year was “Normalization of Internationality and Interdisciplinarity”, and poster sessions and workshops were held.
The following three students from our WISE program participated in this forum.

As a result, Mr. James Paul T. Madigal won the best presentation award in the poster session and Ms. Chen Xiaoxuan’s group won the best presentation award in the workshop.
Congratulations to James san and Chen san!

Ju Minglin san, who participated in the workshop, was also actively involved in the preliminary preparations by forming groups with the students from other universities. She did a great job.

■Poster Session
Mr. James Paul T. Madigal (third-year student in the Department of Food and Energy Systems Science, Graduate School of Bio-Applications and Systems Engineering):「Best Presentation Award」under the theme “Industry Creation/Collaboration”
“Fungal Degradation and Enzymatic Saccharification of Wood from Sekizaisou, a Natural Mutant Mulberry Deficient in Cinnamyl Alcohol Dehydrogenase”
The highlights of his presentation was the transition of their basic research findings to possible industry creation and international collaboration with their goals of contributing to greener, inclusive, and sustainable societies.

Ms. Chen Xiaoxuan (first-year student in the Department of Agriculture, Graduate School of Agriculture):「Excellent Presentation Award」
Group E “Creation of a startup company by transitioning from academia to industry, from science to social implementation”

 

Ms. Ju Minglin(second-year student in the Department of Agriculture, Graduate School of Agriculture)
Group A “A healthier society, including mental health, work-life balance, and family life”
